Bedfordshire status
Common resident

The first Bedfordshire record was in Biggleswade in 2009. From 2011 onwards it started appearing in Bromham then Kempston in 2012 and Bedford in 2013. 2013 was the first year we had multiple records (7) with 21 in 2014 and a gradual increase and from 2018 and 2019 onwards it started to spread out across the county. With c200 records in 2023 it has now become a common moth across the county in its flight period and is often found in the daytime nectaring on plants such as Buddleia and often mistaken for a butterfly when in flight.
